GOTTA PLOT?

Having been asked very nicely – although they didn’t buy me lunch – humf – Swopaplot is handing over to the River Cottage / Channel 4 Landshare project. It’s going to be big, so please get involved!

You can sign up at either
http://landshare.channel4.com/
or
http://www.rivercottage.net/landshare/
in one or more of the following categories:
* Grower (I want to grow my own food)
* Landowner (I have land I can make available for growing food)
* Land-spotter (I know of some land which may be useable)
* Facilitator (I’d like to support elderly/other Landsharers who need help locally)
The aim of the project is to be a nationwide UK initiative getting people to grow their own fruit and veg. Fantastic! Hope you can get involved.

Happy Landsharing!
Chris

    Dear Chris and friends
I have an allotment in Walthamstow (just off Lea Bridge Road) which has been organic for the last 25 years. My wife can no longer help me with the plot and I am working full time and have been finding it difficult to keep on top of the work. I love my allotment and do not want to give it up. I have one person now helping me (Vanessa) but we need more people to help – don’t worry if you have no experience and even a few hours a week will be helpful. We are working together co-operatively and sharing the produce informally not dividing the plot up into sections. It is a big plot so there is plenty of scope for increasing production and is on the largest area of allotments in the area so is (almost) like being in the countryside.
    Look forward to hearing – e-mail D.C.Norris@btinternet.com

Thanks for being the first person to offer a plot Derek! And sorry for taking a month to respond – I’m afraid I’ve been a bit distracted from the swopaplot project recently due to family matters. Hope you get some more help on your allotment soon.
    – Chris
